Another bump in the road. What can we say…? It is of course a huge blow to our family business and to our peers in hospitality. We are going to keep looking for the good in the bad. We have been preparing for the worst but hoping for the best. Whilst the best is not to be in this Christmas story, we have plenty of plans up our sleeves to give you a merry little Christmas.
First of all, this currently affects Hertfordshire, our wonderful pubs in Norfolk will remain open to you all throughout Christmas (so far as we know).
At the close of service on Friday night we will be shutting our doors for Christmas across Hertfordshire, as we have been asked to do by the government, to help the fight against Covid. You lucky ones who are booked in between now and then, we look forward to seeing you and showing you a good time (safely as always). Beyond that date our reservations teams will be in touch, please bear with us as we reach out to all our guests.
We love seeing you over the Christmas period and although we won’t be able to this year, what we can do is help make your Christmas at home a little bit special. Our takeaway offers include beef wellington, oysters, mussels, plant based dishes and even fully-fledged Christmas day feasts, not to mention the wine, sparkling, craft beers and cocktails. To view our menus visit The Farmhouse at Redcoats or Hermitage Rd. Our chefs have been recording videos to show you how to finish off your meals at home as well as other gastronomic hacks such as shucking the perfect oyster or shaking the perfect martini. Great ways to make the dining experience feel special and bring a little of our flare to your home.

Back in June we realised that despite all the madness that was going on there was still some incredible community spirit and kindness being shared. To support this we set up our Kindness in the Chaos charity fund to do some good and spread some positivity. We as a business have donated thousands of pounds into this fund since then, all of the money is being used to support charities and community groups. Thank you for supporting us as an independent business. For every ACI gift card bought we have been donating an extra 5% of the value to our charity fund. So by helping us you are also helping those less fortunate at this time of year.
Whatever is happening this Christmas we really hope you have a good one, wishing you all the best and looking forward to better times together.
James & Howard
